Designed for the member who has been coming here for thirty years, and the one who just walked in for the first time.

The Salt Lake Country Club remodel was a project with a lot of moving parts. Spanning the full dining wing of the clubhouse, the scope included Von Elm's Restaurant, a new dining extension, the Trophy Room Bar, a Chef's Table and Wine Tasting Room, updated restrooms, and the history hall connecting them all. Each space had its own program and its own personality to develop, and the challenge throughout was making sure they added up to something coherent rather than just a collection of renovated rooms.

The design vision was rooted in a single question: how do you honor a place with a long history without letting that history weigh it down? The answer, worked out differently in each space, was to layer vintage-inspired materials and references with layouts and details that feel genuinely current.

Dark wood tones, leather, brass, textured glass, and rich wallpapers appear throughout, but they never feel like a costume. The club still looks like itself, just more so.

A shared material vocabulary does a lot of the work of making the project feel unified. The same instinct that produced the carved wood bar in the Trophy Room shows up in the wainscoting carried through the restrooms, in the layered wallpapers and brass fixtures, in the banquettes that anchor Von Elm's and the perimeter seating in the extension. The spaces are distinct, but they speak the same language, and that consistency is what makes the remodel feel like a whole rather than a sum of parts.

The overall effect is a clubhouse that feels refreshed without feeling replaced. Members returning after the remodel find spaces that are more comfortable, more functional, and more beautiful than before, but that still feel unmistakably like the club they know. That continuity was the goal from the beginning, and it shaped every decision made along the way.
