A campus with a lot of history and a county ready to invest in its future.

The Legacy Events Center has been a fixture of Davis County for decades, starting life as a horse arena before evolving into one of the region's most versatile event facilities. When Davis County selected us through a competitive RFP process to lead masterplanning for the 65-acre campus, the center was at a turning point.

The scope was broad. Structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing assessments of the existing 60,000 square foot facility came first, followed by value-based recommendations for renovation and a long-range vision for the campus as a whole.

The process was built around the Legacy staff. We spent considerable time listening before proposing anything, working through multiple solutions to make sure infrastructure and design were developed together rather than handed off in sequence.

Long-range ideas were explored through renderings and presented to a wide range of stakeholder groups throughout the process. The masterplan was ultimately adopted by the Davis County Commission with unanimous approval.

Our work also extended into the building itself, through studying how the existing structure could be adapted for new uses and new communities. The arena floor conversion, which transformed the original equestrian space into a youth sports facility, was one example of that thinking applied at a smaller scale within the larger vision.
The work we did here is among the more substantial planning efforts we've taken on, and seeing the county commit to a new center and major site renovation as a direct result of the process is something we're proud to have been part of.
