Repeal Bar is a speakeasy and jazz bar in the basement of the Walker Center Garage, a 1970s concrete parking structure in downtown Salt Lake City. Conceived as a companion to the client's other successful Salt Lake City bar, Repeal leans into 1920s prohibition-era aesthetics, with all the glitz and glam of the time period.

Working in a fully concrete basement meant finding a balance between exposing the industrial structure and pulling the space toward something refined. Art deco details carry most of that weight: the arched brass pipe shelving behind the bar, the coffered ceiling panels, the mosaic tile floor running beneath the bar stools. Walk down the right staircase and you find a room full of brass and live jazz. It rewards the people who go looking.
