Renewed functionality and an updated atmosphere bringing a well-loved office space into its next phase.

Standing on the edge of the temperate woods of suburban Illinois, bordering the ceaseless pulse of Chicago, this suite is situated as a spot of peace and space for weary urbanites. The buzz of planes flying to and from nearby O’Hare infuses the air with the energy of global industry and fresh ideas, and within its walls the space fosters its own rhythmic energy, that of creativity and collaboration. Encased in warm wood tones and cool white surfaces, Triangle Plaza shows personality through unexpected features like pops of color in verdant green walls and rich lighting from hand-cast glass fixtures.

Our client came to us looking to make some big changes that would not only change the way their space looked, but would transform the way their space worked for them.

They imagined breaking down the barriers between departments contained in conventional office spaces in order to create areas of collaboration, focus, and community.

Upon entering, a striking slatted wood feature separates the reception from the inner offices, while still allowing light and air to circulate freely throughout the entire space. For the office areas we created custom veils and privacy screens to create separation and focus areas without sacrificing the creatively engaging environment found in a wide-open work space. We also strategically integrated printer stations and storage for the new privacy screens to minimize visual distractions while still being easily accessible.

We see the workplace as a second home, and care that people feel that they have places to take a moment away from their work, to catch up with friends, meditate on a problem they’re working to solve, or just give themselves a break. Workplaces should be human-friendly and prioritize the wellbeing of the people who spend their time there. A slow and thoughtful approach to programming the space produced an office where every square inch is dedicated to high levels of achievement, and both the users and the space can easily reach their full potential.
